Bill Hills
Calgary based harmonica player and songwriter, winner of the Real Blues Magazine awards for best Canadian blues CD, best blues song, and best blues.
Harmonica player, Bill Hills started the city’s first electric blues band, The Children Blue, during the 1960’s, performing at various local venues.
After a brief move to first Toronto and then Vancouver, Hills returned to Calgary to lead several other bands, including the 6-piece Alta Blues, followed by his tenure as a member of Johnny V’s Houserockers.
Bill is perhaps most remembered for his Bill Hills and the 9th Avenue Allstars, which performed at the now-famous King Eddy for many years.
Bill has shared the stage with such greats as Dr. John, Son Seals, Matt Murphy, Mr B, Mose Allison, John Hammond, Otis Rush, Pinetop Perkins, and many other touring blues acts.
